Ron Feintech, PhD

Ron Feintech was born in Des Moines, Iowa in 1941. He graduated form the University of Iowa in 1963 and received his doctorate in Clinical Psychology in 1969 from the University of Nebraska. He moved to Boston, completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Harvard Medical School and began his career as a professional psychologist, sex educator and psychotherapist.

He trained in Gestalt Therapy and Bioenergetics Analysis and practiced in Boston during the tumultuous years of Vietnam and the cultural shifts of the '70s. During his hippie phase, he grew his hair long and protested the war. He was first certified by AASECT as a sex therapist in 1978 and took a sabbatical period in which he studied transpersonal and humanistic psychology in residence at Esalen Institute in Big Sur, CA.

Ron became interested in shamanism, apprenticed with a shaman of the Huichol people. He later spent three months at a Buddhist Teaching Center. Returning to practice in Maine, he established Coastal Counseling Associates in 1984. A political activist, he founded the Casco Bay Greens in 1988. He has taken advanced training in integrated sex and marital therapy with David Schnarch, PhD in the Sexual Crucible paradigm.

Ron’s life altering-adventure with Debra began in 1998 and they married and began seeing couples and developing their skills as facilitators of Conscious Relationship. He and Deb studied with leading teachers and have created their own synthesis. Ron has continued his spiritual studies over the years and has delved deeply into both eastern and western pathways to Spirit. He is currently a practicing Buddhist, a Unitarian, and a Sufi. Ron co-parents two step-sons with Deb, parents his adult daughter and son-in-law, and is grandfather to three. It is a rich and full life.

Debra Feintech, RC, CSP

Debra Feintech has had a life long passion for explorations of spirit and of the deeper meanings of our personal relationships.  She earned degrees from Colby College and Maine College of Art.  In the 90s Deb achieved a long-held dream when she became the mother of two sons through adoption.

Deb has studied Conscious Relationship in intensive trainings with leading teachers in that field: John and Jennifer Welwood, Terry Real, Robert and Judith Gass, and others.

In 2005 Deb completed four years of shamanic training with her teachers Evelyn Rysdyk and Allie Knowlton of Spirit Passages.  This included a 2-year graduate program in Medicine of the Earth.  Deb is a certified shamanic practitioner and a registered counselor in the state of Maine.  She has synthesized her diverse training and experience into a model that invokes the client’s reunion with his/her spiritual and emotional power and that enhances deeper levels of intimacy.

Michele Keef, MS, LMFT

Michele Keef is a native of Maine, but left shortly after high school to live in Texas and Connecticut before settling down in Daytona Beach, Florida, for 10 years. While in Florida, she earned her Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at Stetson University. During her studies, Michele gained experience by volunteering at the local Rape Crisis Center and Literacy Council, while also developing an adolescent outpatient drug counseling program for Stewart-Marchman Center. She completed her internship at House Next Door Agency and Devereaux Services (an agency providing in-home, therapeutic foster care).

Shortly after graduating, Michele was hired by Halifax Hospital to treat children, adolescents and their families in both inpatient and outpatient settings. She also taught parenting classes and did emergency screenings for 3 years at the hospital. In 2001, Michele returned to Maine and joined the Couples Center, where she discovered a real passion for working with couples. She has taken advanced training in couple’s therapy with David Schnarch, PhD, and also draws on the wisdom and teachings of Terry Real and David Deida.  Michele particularly enjoys working with reflection and helping clients explore and find deeper levels of intimacy and personal growth.  She is known for bringing humor and a real “down to earth” attitude to her therapy sessions. In her spare time, Michele enjoys pursuing metaphysical studies, cooking, camping and snowmobiling with her husband, two young sons, and teenage step-daughter.

Alison Caswell, MS, LCPC-C

Alison’s lifelong interest in human behavior led her to becoming a therapist after a career in sales management.  She received her Master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from the University of Southern Maine. Since joining the Couples Center, her particular areas of focus include relationships, intimacy, trauma, attachment and dissociative disorders (including DID), parenting, infertility and adoption.  Alison has received specialized training in hypnotherapy and attachment pathology from Daniel Brown, PhD, of Daniel Brown and Associates, and Relational Empowerment Therapy training from Terry Real of the Relational Life Institute.

Alison spent a year as a clinical counselor intern in Maine Medical Center’s Mental Health system.  She was a clinical pastoral education intern on the psychiatric floor and an intern in the McGeachey Hall Partial Psychiatric Program.   Previously she received her Bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Keene State College.   Alison has had a long held interest in spirituality and personal transformation.  She particularly enjoys sharing in the journey of remembering and being who we truly are.  She has an optimistic and positive life perspective which she brings to her counseling.  Alison has been happily married to her husband for 20 years and they have two wonderful sons whom they adopted at birth.
