Carolyn is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor who works with people going through difficult life transitions, as well as people who wish to feel more “on purpose” in their lives. Many couples and individuals come to Carolyn looking for personal development and growth. You don’t need to be suffering; you may simply be seeking greater fulfillment in your life and relationship.
Every person is on a unique journey. More than listening to the voices of those around us, we need to listen within. Often we don’t trust that there are any “answers” inside us, because we haven’t been supported to take time for ourselves, and to pay attention to our inner thoughts and desires. Carolyn provides a sanctuary for deep listening. She employs therapeutic techniques that allow clients to rest in the present moment and meet whatever shows up with love and compassion. As a result, many of her clients report feeling more peaceful and calm, more in touch with themselves, and more at home in their bodies.
Such a mindfulness-based practice can be wonderful for couples, too. It’s easy to be triggered by our spouse and then react defensively. We shut down and stop listening. Our past hurts can cause us to try and protect ourselves, but when we do so, we become less available for connection. Carolyn helps couples identify and transform such painful patterns to find renewed connection and joy.
Carolyn is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) who earned her undergraduate degree at Harvard University and her Masters in Counseling Psychology at the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology. She has fifteen years of experience working with individuals and couples in community mental health settings, college counseling centers and private practice. A Certified Imago Relational Therapist, she also has training in Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples and Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy. Her work is informed by many mindfulness-based therapies such as Focusing, Hakomi and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy.
Carolyn loves swimming, dancing, reading and spending time with her family and friends. She offers a generous sliding scale fee and accepts the following insurances: Anthem, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, and Community Health Options. Carolyn wants to help support you on your path to a deeper relationship with yourself and others.
